Thankgiving

Thanksgiving was pretty exciting this year, seeing as we actually celebrated!

Turkey (non for me of course), stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and of course pumpkin pie. It was a regular thanksgiving feast celebrated with lots of CANADIAN friends, both new and old. It was a fantastic day of celebration.


We were all especially thankful to have Laurens with us to share in the festivities.

The art of discipline

I recently spent a few days in Austin, Texas where they like to keep things weird. It’s actually their city's slogan for those who don’t know. You can buy shirts, bumper stickers, even blankets with the “Keep Austin Weird” logo! When I was there this time I saw a house painted florescent lime green, and another with bright purple trim, both in an otherwise normal neighborhood. I also ate the BEST food ever! Masman Curry with tofu, pad thai, deep fried pickles and jalapeño hush puppies that make me drool just thinking about them. Yum! A Lesson in Trust

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 If you've ever attended church or a Bible study I'm sure you've read or at least heard someone quote this verse. I've led Bible studies and even, very recently, preached using this as one of my key scriptures. Worry is something I struggle with. A lot. I mean every single day. Honestly, by world views I have a lot to worry about. Don't we all?  I know what the Bible says about worry but  I make up excuses. I rationalize worry. 2021 Christmas Letter

  Merry Christmas from our house to yours, 2021 was a year marked with loss for our family. We lost 6 family members within the first 8 months of the year. The 6 th death being my Auntie Helen. This one was the most difficult for me personally. Most of you will know my Auntie Helen played a major role in all aspects of our extended family life.  We viewed her as the matriarch of the BHAMM  Family. Her loss hit hard, especially as her passing came on the heels of so many other deaths. Our only consolation is that she passed surrounded by her loved ones. We stood around her bed, shared our favourite memories and listened to her favourite songs during her final moments. I’m thankful we could be there to send her off in this way, but also to support Mom, Jason, Christine and Uncle Kwai during this painful time.   Despite the heartache we all experienced the circle of life continues.
