This weekend I had the chance to visit a part of Haiti I have never seen before. Kenol was invited to preach at a crusade in Miragoane, which is in the south part of Haiti. I jumped at the chance to tag along. I pretty much take the same routes over and over and over and over and over and over, so turning onto a new street is always very exciting. You never know what you will find, although lets be honest, we don't always know what we'll find on your regular routes either.
We took the usual roads to get to the city, and a bunch of other roads I could vaguely remember from different trips here and there and then all of a sudden I was looking around and seeing everything for the very first time. The farther south we went the more beautiful the scenery became. Mountains behind mountains, behind more mountains. Banana trees taller than any I had ever seen. Fields of sugar cane as far as the eye could see. Trees everywhere. It was breath taking. It was so refreshing to sit and stare out the window at the incredible beauty of this country.
A few hours later we arrived at our destination. Kenol and I stayed at the Robsi Hotel. I never know what to expect at hotels on this island (Remember the traumatic honeymoon hotel incident?!? I am forever scarred!) This hotel though, was beautiful. The entire property was full of trees, I am convinced there was at least one of every kind of tree this country has to offer on the property. Our room was great, we had running water, power all night and even an air conditioner!

We even had room service! Spaghetti for breakfast. |

We quickly changed and hopped back into the car to head to the crusade. There was a huge crowd, and surprisingly a number of familiar faces from Port au Prince. I am convinced that Kenol knows every pastor on this island. The music was pumping, the stage was jumping as all the singers were bouncing around and the stage was maybe a little unstable. (I was seated on the stage with Kenol). It was pretty exciting (and a little scary!).
Part way through the service Kenol had a special prayer time for healing, which was really quite amazing to see, especially when the entire worship team got up, joined hands and began to pray with them.
It was a really exciting night and Kenol and I were both so thankful to have been there to participate in the service, there were many people saved at the service. The next morning we attended the first anniversary service for the church that put on the crusade.

It was one of the longest services I had ever been to. We were there from 8:30 till after 12:30 but thankfully I was sitting in a super comfy lawn chair so it wasn't so bad. Kenol of course took part in the service as well. There were six more people saved in the morning service, and a number of the people attending were first time visitors after being saved during the crusade.

We jumped back in the car and began our journey back home. I said goodbye to this incredibly lush and beautiful part of Haiti as we drove down the long and windy road back home.
We had an incredible weekend and were so blessed and thankful to have had the opportunity to go on this wonderful adventure!
Peace, love, shaky stages and so many trees,
Rachel
